NOTICE OF PRIMARY ELECTION

 

To the Residents of Jackson County, Kansas:

 

A Primary Election will be held on August 2, 2022 per K.S.A. 25-203.   Candidates for the following offices will be nominated by each political party, which has qualified to participate in the Primary Election:

  • One candidate for United States Senator
  • One candidate for U.S. Representative (District lines not yet determined).
  • One pair of candidates for Governor/Lieutenant Governor.
  • One candidate for Secretary of State.
  • One candidate for Attorney General.
  • One candidate for State Treasurer.
  • One candidate of Commissioner of Insurance.
  • One candidate for State Representative (District lines not yet determined).
  • One candidate for County Commissioner 1st District. (District lines have changed - Townships of Banner, Garfield, Grant, Jefferson, Liberty, Netawaka, Soldier, Straight Creek & Whiting and Ward 3 in the City of Holton)
  • One candidate for Township Clerk in each Township. (Townships: Adrian, Banner, Cedar, Douglas, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Jefferson, Liberty, Lincoln, Netawaka, Soldier, St. Creek, Washington & Whiting)

 

The following officers will be elected in each political party, which has qualified to participate in the Primary Election:

  • One Precinct Committeeman in each Precinct.
  • One Precinct Committeewoman in each Precinct.

(Precincts: Adrian, Banner, Cedar, Douglas, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Jefferson, Liberty, Lincoln, Netawaka, Soldier, St. Creek, Washington, Whiting, Ward I, II & III)

 

  • One candidate for Holton City Commissioner Position #2.
  • One candidate for Holton City Commissioner Position #4.

 

The filing deadline is June 1, 2022 at noon for County, City, Township and Precinct Officers at the Jackson County Clerk’s Office.

 

The deadline for filing for State Senate and Representatives is to be determined.   Please contact the Secretary of State’s office for more information concerning filings at the state level. A publication will follow.

 

For publication as per K.S.A. 25-204.

 

June 10, 2022 is the deadline to change your party affiliation for the August primary. The last day to register to vote is July 12, 2022. If you have any questions please call 785-364-2891.
